How to Taste Wine Like a Pro (Without Being Pretentious)

Tasting wine well isn't about fancy vocabulary — it's about paying attention. Start by looking: tilt the glass against something white. Color hints at age and grape; a brick edge on a red usually means it has a few years on it.

Swirl gently to release aromas, then take a short sniff, then a longer one. Fruit? Flowers? Spice? Earth? There are no wrong answers, only your answers.

Sip and let the wine coat your mouth. Notice sweetness, acidity (does your mouth water?), tannin (does it dry your gums?) and how long the flavor lingers. That finish is often the mark of a great bottle.

Most importantly, ask questions. Our staff love to talk wine and will happily pour you something new.
